Self-Employed Midwife

I qualified as a general nurse, maternity nurse and then as a midwife in the mid 1970s. After being a full time Mum I returned to midwifery in 1991 working at National Women's, and then at North Shore hospitals. Since 2003 I have been a case loading midwife (KYM Team) at North Shore Hospital. This has been truly rewarding work covering all stages of the birthing process from early weeks of pregnancy through to 6 weeks postpartum. I am thoroughly enjoying continuing this work in self employed practice.

My clients range in age from teens to early 40's. I enjoy working with many ethnic groups; at present around 50% of my clients are immigrants. Through my past employment I have worked with high-risk clients with medical and obstetric complications. As a Board Certified Lactation Consultant I am particularly keen to assist and support mothers in their goal to fully breastfeed.

In my practice as a midwife I enjoy working in partnership with women throughout their pregnancy journey, ensuring individualised care. I try to keep labour and delivery as natural as possible while taking risk factors into consideration, always aiming for a healthy outcome for mother and baby.

I am married with two adult daughters. When time allows I love to go tramping enjoying the exercise, outdoors, and good company.
